PEdALED Raku Bibshort - Black

The Raku Bib short is our design iteration of the most important cycling garment, the riding short. Made from Lycra and outfitted with the world famous Cytech® pad, the Raku has elastic cuffs specially designed for sensitive skin to achieve unrivalled comfort and functionality.

Raku is cut extra high in the back and on the sides of the torso to support proper posture on longer rides. This original design improves support to the lumbar area, especially beneficial to the full-bodied rider due to the profile enhancing fit.

The name of pedaled's raku bib shorts calls to mind images of the dedicated, classically-trained craftsmen who create the ceramic tea vessels of the same name. Though raku ware is used for tea ceremonies and the raku bib shorts are used for the daily ritual of cycling, they share many similarities beyond their respective blendsplex cultural significance and simple utilitarian function. Raku ware was originally created in kyoto; the raku bib shorts are the product of pedaled founder hideto suzuki's cycling life in tokyo.

Raku ware is handmade according to traditional methods that have developed with regional variations; the raku bib shorts refine the classic bib silhouette with a few contemporary updates and an expanded list of design influences that now includes the cycling expertise of italy. The most impressive results of this expanded influence and innovative tinkering include a double layer of high, supportive panels on the uppers that maintain the confident fit of non-mesh material everywhere but the center back of the bibs, which features an elastic mesh insert. This nets additional breathability and provides a degree of lateral stretch that doesn't compromise the raku bib shorts' compressive perfection of in-saddle fit.

The chamois, which moves a bit further away from tradition than the raku's elegantly simple body construction, is another important update pedaled makes to classic bib shorts. The insert features a variable topography of high-density foam padding in order to protect the sensitive perineum and put the load-bearing ischial bones to work. The shorts are finished with elastic, gripping hems for a secure fit that won't pinch or ride up
