CHPT3 OneMoreLap 1.22 Roubaix Jersey - NoveUndici
A classically inspired jersey cut with modern technology. Sometimes finishing can be as important as winning.
18 years as a professional, over a thousand days racing under my belt, and yet there was one day’s racing I’d never completed: Paris-Roubaix. In my final year, 2014, it was one of my primary objectives, to finish that is. 257km, 28 cobbled sections totalling nearly 60km, and two laps of a velodrome. I did it all, apart from the last lap. I stood in the middle of that most famous of velodromes, helmet off, knocking back a Fanta, face covered in dirt, feeling a bit of a hero. Until my wife told me I had one more lap to do. ONEMORELAP? That pretty much summed up my final year, it wasn't exactly a blaze of glory. Still, I love that race, and when it came to finding inspiration for new interpretation of our classic base layer there was only one classic worth representing, the queen of them all.
This jersey is made of a cross-dyed polyester that creates a natural hand while keeping you dry. The inspiration was taken from a picture of Greg Lemond wearing the Tour de France maillot jaune that hangs in the Castelli office, the moment I saw it I realised it was the look we were looking for, only with a 21st century twist.
The 1.22 Jersey comes in two colours, the Outer Space blue, and the limited ‘Roubaix’ finish line graphic design.

ORIGIN
It was the cut of that jersey that stood out immediately, it had a shape that the majority of modern jerseys no longer have. It looked like a race jersey without looking like it had been painted on to the skin, I wanted us to create a jersey that had a cut that gave it a bit more of a classic shape without compromising performance. In order to achieve this we had to find a fabric that could hold the shape yet still deliver the performance. The high wicking fabric we chose not only offers top performance but also feels more luxurious and comfortable than the pure performance race jerseys I had grown used to as a professional.
This does not mean to say it doesn’t share any of the construction methods of the race-ready jerseys, the most obvious is the waste band, a panel that was originally (and remains) an integral part of the fastest Castelli aero jerseys. We have relaxed the arm a little, given a slightly sharper shoulder line, and added a zip-up pocket for valuables inside the rear right hand pocket; those rear pockets also share the curvature cut of the aero jersey pockets.
FEATURES
The full-length zip on the front of the jersey is slightly heavier and more industrial in feel than the lightweight zip used on the 1.21 Jersey and 1.71 Body Warmer, again, to offer a different feeling, it has a slightly more solid and classical feel to it, yet looks modern and clean.
FIT
The ONEMORELAP collection fits true to size. CHPT3 bespoke clothing uses a tailoring system for its sizes. We use the physical chest or waist size as the garment size - If you have a 40" chest you need a 40" Jersey - Please note while the CHPT3 range is not designed for racing it is still a close fitting athletic design suitable for active cyclists.
