Brixia Cidneo Carbon Road Disc Frameset - Metallic Blue
CIDNEO is hill that rises just in the heart of Brescia. You can ride your bicycle for 10km until the top through an amazing uphill in good company of hundreds of cyclists every day and most of them come from abroad. This is the reason why we decided to name this frameset as Cidneo. It’s a frameset for climbing and the geometry has been made on to the climber body measurements. The look is apparently traditional but if you look at it carefully you can notice how our designer has revised and reinterpreted the classic look of the bike and then made it more suitable for the modern tastes. The result is a high-tech frameset which can compete with the aero frames look and so build its own reputation as a new segment of frameset.
Cidneo is born from a BRIXIA custom mould. Those who own this product love the tradition and at the same time do love to be different by choosing a new concept of road racing bike. In other words, they really feel part of the new-born BRIXIA family.
Brixia is a company from Italy drawing many years of experience from cycling’s top engineers. The brand draws its name from the historic name of the city of Brescia which has a long tradition of cycling. and the Cidneo is their ultimate climbing bike with a claimed frame weight of 950 grams.
The latest Toray 1100G carbon is subjected to EPS molding to ensure a lightweight frame. Strategically placed Dyneema fibers scrub weight instead of extra carbon layers, all while reducing vibrations more efficiently than carbon.

In order to make the best out from the carbon fibres in terms of mechanical performance, the moulding process has to be very accurate: the carbon layers have to be properly oriented and then compacted in order to create a solid laminate with no molecular porosity and no heterogeneity. How we could achieve that goal? The EPS technology (Expandable Polystyrene Shell) makes it possible: during the “Cure Process” (this is when the resine dries and the laminate gets solid thanks to pressure&temperature) the orientation of the carbon weft doesn’t change its original structure and the result is an excellent internal finishing of the carbon tube and above all a better quality of the frameset in terms of performance and lightness.
To compress the carbon against the inside of the mold, we use EPS (Ex- pandable PolyStyrene) sections. These sections are molded to represent the exact shape of the inside of the frame and fork. Then they are wrapped with sheets of prepregs and placed inside the mold. When the mold is heated, the EPS expands and presses the carbon sheets against the mold, creating a smooth and voidless wall. This ensures the best pos- sible construction in terms of weight, stiﬀness and strength.
Monolith molding is proprietary method of molding a frame in one session....true monocoque! Usually a frame is divided into a few main sections (like front triangle, seperate seat and chain stays) which are bonded together after molding. With True Monocoque, the entire frame is molded as a one-piece product. This allows carbon sheets to run across the ‘clas- sic’ transitions without interrup- tion. These critical transitions are now optimized for stiﬀness and strength, without the pen- alty of extra weight.
